I always figured Bloo was a personification of Mac's negative traits. Mac is a mature, helpful, polite and smart kid mainly because Bloo contains the bulk of Mac's selfishness, rudeness, childishness and ego

Someone said that Mac conjured Bloo as a sort of counterweight to him. Bloo works because he’s meant to balance Mac. Bloo got worse from living at Fosters’ because he’s not fulfilling his purpose.

He’s really inconsistent as a character. Sometimes he’d actually be genuinely good guy despite being snarky and mischievous. Then there’s times where he pretty much goes too far.

He’s not a bad character as a whole. It depends on what episode you watch.

What pissed me off about the show is how Bloo's pilot personality got butchered so hard. Bloo in the pilot was actually tolerable and fun to root for. In the series proper? Makes you want him to get adopted by someone else so we don't have to see him afterwards chances are.

To be fair, Bloo is the imaginary friend of a kid who was being bullied by his older brother, so he was probably made to be the "cool friend" that little 4 or 5 year old mc needed at the time, and never grew up because we don't ever see the imaginary friends do so, they stay pretty much the same
