I just want a fun time in Game 6 and a hypothetical Game 7. I like it when your streams aren't full of doom and gloom, so hopefully the team can give you something to work with.
Is now finally the time for the fanbase to agree that Matthews and Marner don't have "it" and won't ever? I've thought this since the Montreal loss, wondering where everyone else is at on this.
After the Montreal choke job, I wanted to see the team with a different coach. Carbury was right there, or maybe they could have brought in Trotz. If the change didn't help, that would have been the time to blow it up.
Now we absolutely know they don't have it, but there are no good moves to make.
Can you use distance to measure how close Shanahan is to losing his job, if the Leafs lose game six? Is he still safe, or inches away (assuming the franchise comes to their senses)?
How much do you believe Mitch exercising his NMC to block the Rantanen trade is gonna affect his legacy in Toronto? And more importantly, do you think there’s any reason to re-sign him after he’s disappeared in the playoffs(/ins) for six straight years? This team is gaslighting us.
Steve, if you were Chris Tanev, would you refuse to block another shot for the rest of your contract?
The worst part of our passenger superstars is that we have players with actual heart who put their bodies on the line with absolutely nothing to show for it.
No....he's gone, but he's only hurting his paycheque by these performances. Like GMs aren't seeing, what we aren't. The upgrade would only come in attitude/culture. ROR was right.
If Brad gets that kind of package from a desperate team for that contract and that level of folding in the playoffs, build a statue outside of the arena for that man. I doubt they even move him to start with, but I certainly would.
That's ultimately where I'm at with this. He's done this for far too long to warrant me wanting to build around him. Get what you can for him, build around Knies and Nylander, maybe Mo.
Honestly, if an injury is what is keeping him from achieving great things in the playoffs, they need to figure out how to get him fully healthy again so this doesn't keep happening. I do actually like the player, but this constantly falling short in the playoffs is not helping things.
Why, after 9yrs have they not learned to simplify playoff hockey. Every year when the pressure is up they try those hope plays/passes which always end up in back of the net. Literal definition of insanity.
Yeah it was never happening, kinda shocking that Leafs brass had the balls to ask him though. But in hindsight who knows how costly that will have ended up being for Marner, turning down all the money he absolutely would have gotten from the Canes.
This LFR deserves the same effort the Leafs put into that game. Keep it short, simple. What needs to be said has been said…so many times. One scream is all that’s needed.

Give Knies whatever the fuck he wants as an RFA.
No 1st round picks for next three drafts.
Do we build around Knies and Nylander?
Maybe should have brought him back 3 games ago, is all I'm saying.
Thats it, right? Rebuild the entire rest?
I’m concerned by the fact that the last time the Leafs won game 7 in any round was in 2004.
Now we absolutely know they don't have it, but there are no good moves to make.
That coaching decision gets ignored year after year and probably could save some of these games.
The worst part of our passenger superstars is that we have players with actual heart who put their bodies on the line with absolutely nothing to show for it.
Would not be surprised if Marner wasn't already signed and it just didn't get announced.
Would not surprise me to see them resign both of these guys out of pure desperation at this point.
I feel like they'll be signing JT for sure because of how difficult it'll be to center.
Does anyone take that Matthews contract without you having to add 1st rounders?
Do you try and significantly retool or do you completely rebuild?
I am so sorry they're doing this to you, Steve.
Return for him is still multiple firsts and a top prospect.
There are probably a dozen teams in the league that would sell their farm to get Matthews because a division title and 2nd round is a major win.
It is 100% the Leafs fanbase's right to dislike him for doing so.

It has to be over with these 2 top guys and Shanny. Has to be. Right?...RIGHT?!?!?
I've been saying all year this team isn't different. They are worse but with better defensemen and stubborn coach.
