We have these little bird shapes in the windows to keep birds safe, and at night the moon lights them up. They make me feel like a kid again each time I see them.

They’re cute, but research shows that bird shaped decals applied like this do not prevent #birds from killing themselves on windows. Check out the American Bird Conservancy’s website on window collisions for solutions that actually work.
And while other products like cords, adhesive squares, and tape may possibly work better, they still sell and recommend the decals similar to what the OP is using.
At the end of the day it’s better than nothing, and it’s now educated me on better protecting birds against our own windows. We back onto a wetland pond and love our wildlife. This Northern Saw-whet Owl 🦉 did strike our rear patio door, rested, hopefully recovered fully, and then flew off.
Once again I'm not trying to be snarky, but research shows that many birds which hit windows and succeed in flying away are in fact seriously injured and will die soon afterwards. If you want to know more, read Daniel Klem's research: https://www.danielklemjr.org
Thanks, appreciate the link, will read on it more. And I’m not trying to nitpick but you said to check out the American Bird Conservancy website, which I did, and they specifically show, describe, and sell bird-shaped designs. At the end of the day we’re all on the same page to protect birds. 🐦👍
I don't see any bird-shaped decals on that website. I also see repeated instructions to put decals close together. The research I've read on this (quite a lot) shows that non-organic shapes work better & there must not be more than 2 inches of clear window between them.
The image I included of bird-shaped decals was from the second link. I don’t disagree with you that it should be installed as recommended, and that there are better options, but again, the OP has at least made a decent attempt.
Pls note, I'm not trying to be snarky, but how do you know that you have not had any collisions? Research shows that people significantly underestimate window collisions on their houses/offices. They don't watch windows 24/7 & also don't look for dead and injured birds. Amirite?
I understand and expected this response. My husband sits there and works all day at home. So I can’t say none, but he’d know if any came to that window while he was working.
I’ve been looking for a solution for this issue! We have a confused little guy who will not stop flying into our window no matter what we do. We’ve tried several things. So happy I saw this post!

That then took me to another link: https://abcbirds.org/solutions/prevent-home-collisions/
