Microwaves, vcrs, air fryers settled to prices below $100 each or $50 each. I assume a bidet is $1k or more and does it require extra space in the bathroom? That extra hurdle probably prevented it from catching on.

There's current a few varieties depending on what you're after, but the main ones are the full units like you've said, but we sell what we call "retrofit" bidets that very simply replace your toilet seat and lid. It's easy to install an ALOT cheaper than the full units.
You'll probably spend far more than that on toilet roll in a lifetime. I'll be honest, I genuinely think most of the resistance to it in the UK was the idea of being sat prone and squirting water at your bottom. We're incredibly repressed about stuff like that.
