Dems in DC can't do that much, but Dems in the states they control should be going scorched earth on GOP-friendly groups or firms that capitulate until deterrence is restored.

Partisan redistricting, state OSHA inspections, arrest warrants under state law, cancellation of state contracts. Any tool you have, use. This isn't the old political world. Construct more housing and depopulate as many red states as you can.
That's before using interstate compacts to establish parallel institutions that allow the retaining of state capacity to rebuild the federal bureaucracy.
Sounds a bit like dual power. But success also depends on much greater popular engagement with state structures. Maybe the participatory budgeting exercise in Porto Alegre and other attempts to democratize local government could provide examples.
Nahh. This is pure elite politics. The whole problem is that democracy is about managing interest groups and the possibility of mutually assured destruction. US democracy is broken cause one side isn't threatening the other.
Decades of democratic disengagement are a huge part of the reason for the disaster happening right now. Can't expect the judiciary to save us alone. Elite politics needs mass mobilization to create pressure points for change.
It's crazy to me that the Dems seem to be waiting for voters to universally tell them the house is on fire, while they actively vote for the Trump admin to set fires and pour gas on the flames.
