If there's anyone who's going to overperform their polls in Germany tomorrow, it seems most likely to be Die Linke. They're the ones with the momentum at the moment, and I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to crack 10%.

One aspect of doing a political purge of the military and civil service is you can't come back in afterwards and just revert to status quo ante policies. A counter-purge becomes a necessity before you can then restore usual norms and protections. The people he's installing can't be left in place.

Because a gun is an artificial object that was intentionally designed and made by human being with that express function deliberately built in. A human body is not (unless, of course, you choose to deliberately modify your body with a specific goal in mind).
