See this would've been a much better response than "Molon labe"

Literally any law is inevitably going to produce some absurd-seeming outcomes like this, because we can't decide every single legal case based on what the British public seems to like the vibes of. We need rules, and as long as there are rules sometimes they will be gamed.

In 2025 the State of Israel occupies all of Palestine, large tracts of southwest Syria, and much of south Lebanon. It also regularly bombs Yemen, including its civilian infrastructure such as its ports. It now is engaged in a war of attrition with Iran. It also routinely threatens Jordan and Egypt.

lolsob that within a week of Loving Day the Supreme Court totally embraced the logic that the Court rejected in Loving and that we just celebrate the rejection of

"They confirmed that I need to wear a female swimming costume despite having to compete with the men, which 'outs' me as a woman who is transgender." Transphobes are really fucking stupid

💣💥 Another bombshell poll from Hungary: Péter Magyar’s opposition TISZA party leads PM Viktor Orbán’s ruling Fidesz-KDNP 51–36 — a 15-point gap. Under Orbán’s own gerrymandered system, this could mean a two-thirds majority for TISZA. Poll by Medián, Hungary’s most trusted pollster, for HVG.

I'm too young to remember the public debate, but can remember adults not long after who genuinely thought Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden were the same person.

Carswell has changed enormously. Defected to Ukip tactically in 2014 as a pro-migration libertarian who wanted to keep Farage's "nativism" out of the 2016 referendum campaign, arguing Leave must ditch Powellism to win Now in Mississippi as a pro-AfD advocate of racist deportations of legal migrants

Carlson's actually understating how wrong Cruz is here, for the record. A passage similar to the one Cruz states does appear in the Bible twice - once, as Carlson says, in Genesis and again in Numbers. There's an overwhelming consensus of translators that the first incidence says "you", not "Israel"

I mean, they weren't "vastly outnumbered" by some random accident or people ganging up on them. The Nazis chose to go to war with the Soviets and Americans entirely of their own accord!

Not just allowing but often *compelling* - cis kids prescribed puberty blockers are often as young as 8 or 9 and have no right to refuse, they can be restrained and have it forcibly administered to them kicking and screaming.

These rumours are ten a penny and mostly bullshit, but just posting this because of the idea. Not against it but not so sure tbh, partly just because I'm still a partisan of casting Kylie Minogue as Dazzler while we still can!

Plessy v. Ferguson for trans people

And although non-medical, see also climate change, teaching creationism, etc

I mean, tbf it won't have any significant impact, because the current commander-in-chief won't pay any attention regardless of how it is relayed to him.

One of the basic things women are always taught to do for safety is not to be alone. Walk home with a friend, text a friend where you are so they know. Yet our politicians are determined to deny sex workers that basic safety and security measure, to criminalise any friend who tries to help them.

There are a couple of minor exceptions like FiLiA, but as a general rule anti-trans campaigners and groups do not have some other area they're focused on which has coincidentally led to a clash with trans rights on one of many issues. They're singularly, exclusively anti-trans as their only activity

Another example of the obsessive media laundering of transphobia: the BBC describes "Sex Matters" as a "women's rights group" despite the fact that SM don't describe *themselves* as such, and their stated aims show little explicit interest in women's rights.

Look at what was taken in “sweeps” of homeless encampments. projects.propublica.org/impact-of-ho...

I like the way the Guardian felt the need to clarify "which was false" here.

Can't remember where I read it, but strongly recall reading the story of that Moms For Liberty woman elected to School Board promising to get rid of all the "gender ideology" library books, she found there weren't any, and the other local MFLers got angry with her, convinced she was covering it up.
