Can’t believe he’s gone. I was in Syria, by coincidence when it started. I went back during the war and I hope with all my heart to go back to that wonderful country soon, at peace.

I visited for work 3 times 2004-7 and was struck particularly by the equalities of opportunity for women in Syria. It has had one of the highest % of women in engineering in the world. Do you think that is all going to end now?
I visited Damascus in 2006 in my 20s. Found it inspiring in so many ways. I have no idea how much of what I fell in love with in that city is still there. Would love to find out.
I hope you are right about "at peace"
The Syrian people deserve peace.
That the new leadership is a "terrorist" with a $10m bounty on its leader is an administrative concern of major note.
Personally, I'd like to know how his (the leader of the rebels) wife views the prospects. Who is she?

I wonder, and hope, that this will soon be just another chapter in their stories.
