This kind of reminds me of the end of the sopranos. I think the fact that the ending Is still regarded as bad is mostly perpetuated by people not watching the show, and taking the word of people who watched the finale through their fingers.

I walked out of the theater when the fellowship decided to go to Moria. These idiots had just had an EXTREMELY BORING council about taking the Ring to Mordor, and it only took them a couple of days to give up on that I guess.
