This is indeed worrying but unfortunately no big surprise.
We just had a COP where "transition away from fossil fuels" was "transitioned" out.
If it wasn't so sad and terrible for vulnerable people, countries, biodiversity, future generations etc I would admire how effective the fossil lobby is 😞💚

The graph seems to be curving upwards (accelerating increases in CO2 atmospheric content) while human GHG emissions are no longer increasing.

Perhaps non-human CO2 from extreme wildfires and the collapse of carbon sinks could be the reason?

Indeed! Global albedo is precisely one of those metrics very closely linked to aerosols! Aerosols achieve “cooling” by reflecting solar energy before it reaches the lower atmosphere.

Releasing more carbon black particles and sulphur compounds into the atmosphere would probably not be a long-term solution either.

Oh indeed - trying to cool the planet with aerosols would be like putting a sticking plaster on a bullet wound.

Human CO2 emissions are still increasing: 0.8% from 2023 to 2024. As the "base" for comparison is increasing (0.8% from 2023 to 2024 - not compared f.e. to 2014), the real "parts per million" shown in the above graph are still rising - maybe a bit faster than before, as we add up more CO2 per year.

Yes the GHG atmospheric content graph is a “stock” graph while the human GHG emissions graph is a “flow” graph.

Yes the flow is still constant, but the stock seems to be increasing at an accelerating rate.

There must be planetary systems that are contributing to this increase in GHG content.
