January sea surface temperature anomalies over the last 100 years through 2025... This year continues to show cooling in the central equatorial Pacific Ocean (La Niña) with warmer than average conditions found elsewhere globally.

Also prior to 2023, 2016's ocean heat stood out like a sore thumb. Probably contributed to that mid-atlantic blizzard that year.
