One of the big changes will be the phrase “speed was not a factor”. So often you hear this phrase after a crash even though someone was doing 79 on a rural road. From today, legally, speed will be a factor, and culpability will be factored into fines and possible insurance payouts afterwards.

There’s no way this can be policed, but it’s important to drive home the message that in the event of a crash above 60kph, there will be financial etc consequences after a crash.

I think tech is going to come into playway more over the next decade. But the fact that L roads are down to 60kph at least means Google maps might not send poor bewildered tourists down these roads as a quickest route.
