That lesbian bar bombing was done by Eric Robert Rudolph, the Atlanta Olympics bomber, and yet nobody even remembers that it happened, much less that it was part of Rudolph's bombing spree.
When I was researching the flashback sections in Lessons in Magic and Disaster, I found so many upsetting examples of homophobia from the 1990s. A lesbian bar in Atlanta was bombed and people died.

It felt as though nothing has changed in the past 30 years, the focus has just shifted to trans folk.
