Might seem weird to think about it now, when they all come over, but this and then our release of the original Agarest: Generations of was were some of the first JRPGs on Steam.

I remember a lot of companies we were trying to deal with at the time were not keen on having a pc port of their games.

I remember Recettear being discussed a bunch with PC gamers because of that! I think I played a bit of it and it was pretty fun!

What reasons did you discover were the cause of Recettear's success on steam?

I've never really done a deep five on it, as it wasn't one of ours but in addition to the lightening in a bottle of a fantastic game getting the media attention it deserved.

I think a lot of it was a combination of lack of competition (there were very few JRPGs on steam, and given this was Greenlight or pre Greenlight era, fewer released in general) huge pent up demand for Japanese games particularly RPGs on Steam (which is one of the reasons Agarest did so well too)

It's was a really exciting time to be a fan of both JRPGs and PC Gaming. As a huge Kiseki fan I'd almost given up hope before I heard about the PC release.

I thought that was the case, but it's been a little while so I wasn't quite sure.

Makes sense though I seem to remember Agarest being a pretty early Greenlight game.
