That many bipolar people control the weather? Oh, nevermind.. mislabeling the weather in a manner that isn't cool for those of us that live with bipolar disorder

I understand where you’re coming from bc I’m also bothered somewhat when people appropriate psychological conditions, but in this case, ‘bipolar’ has a definition completely disparate from the condition. It’s not the same as people saying ‘I’m so OCD’
Semantically correct. In actual language use, incorrect. There's plenty of articles on not using the term for weather. Y'all can double down, but it makes you jerks. Just say erratic, contradictory, unpredictable, not bipolar.
I can understand that. Personally I don’t ever use it as an adjective anyway and have hitherto never seen it discussed, so it hasn’t really rung that way in my brain. But it is good to have the knowledge that it is upsetting to some, going forward
Thank you @morgansmorgue.bsky.social It was not nearly as large an issue before 12/21/2024. That started an incredible political bipolar bigotry wave that has been so intense, 425+ added since 1/26. While I don't list weather except in extremes, @spookyrat.bsky.social is getting very close to that.
Given bipolar disorder is far more serious than cold weather one day, hot weather the next, or a flip-flopping politician, you can f right off with "but it's a word"
i apologize i didn’t realize it was offensive to use in a context like that, @jeffreysens.bsky.social explained it perfectly yesterday in the thread replies
