This is absolutely incredible, I -love- this, and I especially love the colors you've used. It's kind of 1970s gothic novel cover and manages to be both luminous and shadowed. And that red? It just JUMPS OUT. Wonderful.
posted this to the strahd subreddit and someone was like "Really cool painting but a bit too feminine for my campaign's version" and I was like "Oh, totally valid, I just grew up in the Rocky Horror school of villainy" and he was like "Why are you telling me that" and now i don't post art on reddit
reddit is cool because you either get obnoxious lore nerds who have a very tenuous grasp on history and spout bigot shit with no self-awareness, or obnoxious realism nerds who have a very tenuous grasp on reality and spout bigot shit with no self-awareness.
what's great about that interaction is that first they told you a critique you didn't ask for and then when you responded with your own quip they didn't see that they had just done that very thing. truly the reddit response ever
dont tell my players but im totally stealing the adventure zone bit where he's using magic to make himself hotter than he is, its gonna be a great reveal
I played a very young runaway sorceress once who used breastidigitation to make herself look older. Unfortunately her attention to detail was lacking so she was never consistent...
One time I posted art of Geralt half-swording to reddit and someone commented “that’s ridiculous, he’d cut his hand” so I commented a link to a video of someone doing it irl and he replied “I’m not watching that because I know it won’t prove me wrong” and now I also don’t post art on reddit
Redditors often have this weird complex where they forget that the reply section is a forum, not a comment box, & that the site was built for reacting to news originally, so you're supposed to talk to each other. Deeply weird userbase.
giving the kind of look that would have me questioning my allegiances before swooping down to vallaki and being just kinda off-putting in a devilishly handsome way.
That's really cool! I love seeing people's different interpretations of the same character and how much they tend to varry ~ (I even have my own from my game!)
