My whole life I’ve had people laugh at or berate me for stimming, usually neurotypical folks. It’s horrible having to pretend being “less autistic” in public.
So I get it. The “stimming” video is stereotypical, and autism isn’t something “quirky”.
But I do like stimming. Not apologizing for that.

And hey. Even I can stim!
(There were curse words in his version)
His friends don't make fun of him for stimming anymore.
Are people genuinely getting offended by it?
So sorry that there’s so much backlash :(
Knowing how everyone dogged on you for even mentioning it just shows how much autistic people can't have much of anything and it's disappointing to see.
I found a new super quiet fidget and it helps from flipping my pen all of the conference room
Those kinds of neruotypical people don't know if they want us to be real or mask to be like them.
You're a real one for saying all this Alex <3
Still its great fo you to say you won't stop stemming just because others see it as strange. There really isn't anything wrong with stimming.
The criticisms were by other autistic people who found it stereotypical, infantilizing, and too “quirky”. They’re welcome to believe that, but I still think the response was overblown.
Also, none of us are his therapist. Shut the fuck up.
Terminally online people looking for reasons to be mad are something else...
I’m autistic and I wasn’t offended at all. I found it extremely comforting in fact. Also we shouldn’t put rules on what stimming should look like…just an opinion…can’t actually believe the response…

The people hating on this lack the joy and whimsy in their lives that we get from doing silly things like that.
God the A.S. brainrot has ruined the perception of autistic people to hell and back I swear....
I understand the concern because it WAS stereotypical in hindsight, but I think some people went too far with how nasty they got with personal attacks.
Everyone is just trying to live and accept themselves.
as someone with autism, i was never offended by the video and i found it to be adorable. hell, i stim a lot too! no one ever should treat people having fun as a crime.
And, damn it, you keep on stimming, man.
I have stunned the “Cement” song so much lately.
Even if you find it cringey or something, just scroll away. If something is not for you It’s not an attack on your being, holy crap.
Stimming is natural, normal. Stimming is healthy. 😊
For what it’s worth I get why some people don’t like the video, but some people got into personal attack territory which is inexcusable.
If anything, it made me feel seen lol
Maybe I'm missing something, but I think it's silly that vid caused so much shit.
half people are just the fun police nowadays.
The world's so fucking miserable for us right now. Folks need to fuck off.
I have ASD, and I don't see the problem with it. If anything, it's charming!
It's not just aimed towards autistic individuals either. Some people just can't stand other people enjoying their lives... which is a sign that they need to see a shrink!
When beginning work with a new client, one of the very first things I do is assess all needs, including stimming idiosyncrasies.
Stimming is always integral to the coaching working we do at Neuroguides, and always will be.
