Ottawa just opened TWO light rail lines! I set out to ride them on the first day and far-too-thoroughly review each of the new stations, along with a ton of knowledgeable locals! https://youtu.be/besAAkM27M4

Should’ve updated signaling. Rebuild Dow’s Lake as an island platform and extend double track to Walkley. I don’t think that would add much time. Theoretically, should be combined 6min north of South Keys and 12-15 south of South Keys. New “town center” plans always interesting
I generally agree, but the station itself is not the major limiting factor for the frequency, it's the Dow's lake tunnel. They didnt have the money to do 2nd tunnel, and expanding the cutting to doubletrack by Dow's lake station was infeasible due to 4 bridges needing to be (1/)
demolished and rebuilt for that, the beech st bridge, the hickory st pedestrian bridge, POW Dr. bridge, and most importantly the Carling st bridge.
could they have? yeah, probably. It would have either cost more or detracted from other parts of the project (2/)
Could be an option, but Ottawa is strange in that so many subdivisions like Riverside South are so isolated from the rest of the city due to the greenbelt, that the BRT or new LRT is really their lifeline.
An epic video for transit station elevator foamers. And pay phone foamers. Lots of fun facts from Canadian transit foaumers (Canadian spelling). But- the turboprop foamer community is incensed over your dissing of the Dash 8. #propsforever.

Will you be coming to Waterloo (Ontario) as well during your trip, to check out the ION Light Rail as well?
