Knitting people: why are so many people combining mohair or other low weight yarns with other yarns in garments? Is that necessary for wearability? or just to make it feel / look nicer/fancier? #knitting #craftiverse

I am making my first garment, a positive ease bulky weight yarn vest with knitpicks wonderfluff and wondering if I should have added another yarn ? So far the fabric pills a lil but otherwise no issues???
From what I’ve seen, it’s usually to bulk up the lighter weight yarn and to add loft you might not get otherwise with a bulkier weight. I recently made a sweater that called for Aran weight held with merino, and I ended up using a bulky chainette yarn instead. Felix pullover, Berrocco Mochi in plum.
Wow beautiful work! Thank you!!! If I ever get through this Timbo vest, Felix was actually next on my list. Such a simple but pretty design! The shoulder details 🥹💓
It seems to make a very warm fabric with a lot of air in it. Also you can blend colours. This sweater is extra fine merino in a darkish green and lace weight kid silk in a brighter green so the overall effect is a blend, with the fluff and shine of the kid silk.
Thanks! it’s a Raoul sweater from Hobbii, on Ravelry, knitted with the recommended Hobbii yarn. I’ve made 2 of them, pretty quick and easy and VERY warm. https://ravel.me/raoul-sweater
