Another good reason to never use an AI avatar or AI art ever, no matter how cute, is that the more people become accustomed to that eerie aesthetic, the easier it is to slip the fakes through.

And also I'm usually your local "don't yuk someone's yum. if people like it, let 'em like it" but. In this case, I feel very "you're literally preferring lies to reality."
And often it is lies based on theft of other people's materials.
There is an older woman I know who posts dozens of AI images a day on Facebook, and when I pointed out one of them was AI, she was definitely upset about it. "I wish they would mark those things!" Literally everything you post looks identical, Doris! Smooth, uncanny, rounded, gauzy and fake! C'mon!
I feel an ever increasing duty to try to spot it and point out every creepy little flaw. The more the rich buy into the AI hype, the more I know it's going to be terrible for us all.
The AI profiles on Meta have finally pushed me over the edge to shutdown at least one of my accounts over there. I will limit my future contributions to AI.
Also? AI is such an energy hog. People who care about the environment should ask themselves whether generating yet another image of a three-eared bunny is worth contributing to a future water shortage...
True.
Our nextdoor app has a local photographer who is pretty talented shooting birds. But he's discovered AI and has been posting AI stuff lately. I can't tell you how disappointing it is. I'm hoping he tires of it and moves on.

"they are fake, none of this is real"
"yeah i know but they are so pretty!"
Real nature is pretty. Once you start accepting/preferring fake nature, you forget what real nature is.

I have a lot of feelings about AI.
