For some it's ideological. Creatives have always historically been those on the fringes. Queer folks, PoC, Neurodivergents. They hate art because of what it represents, the creativity that moves society forward. They want to drown it in banality and vapidity, "When everyone's super, no one will be."

I cannot tell you how many hours I've spent hunched over a computer typing into a word document with sheer GLEE. I was having the time of my life but an outside observer would see my face contorted in concentration and assume I was miserable. But it was so enjoyable to me I'd lose track of time.

I'd often forget to sleep, eat, bathe. Once I wrote for nearly 3 days, taking only about 8 hours to sleep split up between two periods of sleep. I ate quickly, shoveling down the food just to get rid of the hunger distracting me. I was in my element, I was HOME. Writing was my everything.
