Personally, Netflix.
Like my god in terms of pop culture did it just absolutely SHRED the appreciation, and ownership, of media.
Now everything has to be binged, all released at once, and canceled for a write off.
And you can't buy any physical media of these series so it's piracy or bust to own.

Using only a singular point of pop culture, where did it all go wrong for humanity?

God forbid they get the rights for a foreign movie too, because that shit will NEVER come to theaters now. Sailor Moon Cosmos :[
Klaus is their best original movie imo and it only got a limited release despite the praise for it
The age of preservation is over. Companies no longer care about ownership when they've all found a system that most people objectively believe is better than cable TV or a DVD player, and doesn't require physical hardware to be produced.
Add in everyone wanting to copy the service and we have cable again
It was nice
Going to the store to shop so you can check the quality of things and think it over instead of hitting "add to cart" in an instant for example. Idk, I like experiences, y'know?
But I legitimately think the hyperfixation society has had with "convenience" coupled with animosity towards younger generations has really robbed kids and teens a LOT of experiences and joys that were otherwise "key parts" of youth.
Bleh
Streaming services have done so much damage to how the general public values media.
But that said, I still value my CDs more.
I bled Netflix dry with free trial subs in college, but I don't like paying money for things I can't own to some degree. Especially as a fan of physical media.
Call me old, but man.
I don't know the solution, though =(
