Informal poll: How many of your high schools have an academic awards ceremony?

Mine does, one at the beginning of the school year for all students with a qualifying GPA and one only for seniors the week before graduation.

We have 4 awards given during our graduation ceremony. All to grade 12s. An award for academics, community service, friendship/inclusive leadership, and top overall student encompassing previous 3

No honor roll/academic/athletic awards for rest of student body. A conscious choice made 10+ years ago

Theres a side to this thats tricky - scholarship applications for non-local stuff - can penalize applications if they factor in "awards"

Still tougher for kids who don't have sport accomplishment to fill it out that info if they arnt engaged in external opportunities
