My biggest question - Who thought baggy kits with collars was a good look? What designer said when I see a football player- I want their shirt to look ill fitting and dorky?
It will either be Carling actually ‘owning’ premiership in this context so the word is intrinsically associated with them or it’s other brands not wanting to be or not allowed to be associated with a beer… for the kids innit
I have a lovely story. The closest I got to completing one was the 96 version. Needed two stickers. One was definitely half of a double Dave Beasant sticker. My mate had it but wanted the bulk of my swaps for it.
Being a sensible sort I didn’t want to give too much away knowing I still needed the last sticker. I offered him a deal where I’d give him half now and then whatever he had left *after* I’d got the other one - he wouldn’t budge.
A week or two goes by and I do find the other sticker I need (can’t for the life of me remember which). I go back to my mate to get Dave Beasant’s legs feeling very pleased with myself. He point blank refuses to swap it. I’m devastated.
Weeks go by and at some point I just clearly give up. The season is over and my incomplete sticker book finds its way onto a shelf and then eventually into a box in the loft to be forgotten about.
Fast forward about 20 years and my mum and dad are moaning about all the crap I still have in the house. I start sorting through my bits and come across this sticker book. I’m still good mates with the guy who refused to swap and I message him reminding him of the injustice. We laugh.
