Frank, have colleges/universities spoke up about this? I would think kids from these restrictive schools would be less prepared for a rigorous liberal arts program. And that, in turn, would not please parents?

I'd advise people to show the hell up to board meetings to push back on these policies instead of telling kids to get the books...they CAN'T GET THE BOOKS. That's the point.

We have. Unfortunately, the majority of the current BOT doesn’t care. Nearly every single parent, student and librarian that spoke at our board meetings, were opposed to this policy passing. 5 trustees simply ignored what the people wanted.

In August, the district passed one of the state’s most restrictive book policies, which was justified as bringing Fort Bend ISD in line with state law, but in fact goes well beyond the requirements of Texas law or the state standards.

What’s especially worrisome about these removals is that they’re mostly not books that typically show up in formal challenges, most of which come from lists passed around online by groups like Moms for Liberty & Citizens Defending Freedom. These books aren’t reviewed on https://BookLooks.org.
