For me it’s uh.. their pricing, and their treatment of competitors, and their treatment of consumers. Less to do with the quality of their product. Idk though. Those devs can get easy lives at valve now though. The most chill gaming company in the universe from what Ive heard.
I was laid off last year and the uncertainty I still feel looking for work is horrible. Most of those ass hats don't know hard ship or are those that romanticize capitalism.
I have only played games made by others. I have not tried to develop one from the ground up. So a game dev gets respect from me for taking the time and effort to try. Even if the game is not my thing. And hearing of a dev being laidoff is a tragedy no matter who it is
i'm so sick of people who haven't done a creative thing in their lives come in and rejoice over the continued squeeze on creatives in the gaming industry. it's usually the same people who are doing the squeezing anyway so i guess they're consistent at least.
It’s precisely the fact that employees aren’t valued that is why the games suck. Executive bonuses and stock buybacks don’t make good games, the employees do. Now the employees are punished for c-suite stupidity.

I cannot wrap my head around gamerz lacking empathy for devs
they are literally people who make the thing you like
Scale of impact not mentioned, though.
Coz for the second group there ain't no sympathy
But that's sad and repeating story.
When some market segment start to boom the are tech-bros, corpo and investment firms wanting to get on the train.
They run segment to the ground and hop to another.
It's not first nor the last time for game industry
Those devs are in for a very hard time because it's nigh impossible to get a job in the game dev industry right now.
