How Harry and Watson forced News Group Newspapers to admit wrongdoing
Why the circumstances show it was NGN wanting to avoid a public trial—and not the costs risk on the claimants—that brought this case to its end

This is their next problem.
The evidence in a civil trial will not by itself normally show any criminality.
activity to avoid evidence appearing in the public domain how do they prevent a criminal case from proceeding? They can’t control that. What am I missing?
Thank you.
The Duke was also happy to pay millions in costs to have the evidence made public. Until this admission.
I really hope the police open an investigation given that NGN has admitted to criminal wrongdoing and lying to previous investigations.
Only one point of detail in that post came from information from a person (re the Tomlin Order, which had been mentioned in open court); the rest was entirely based on a close reading of the public domain sources/case reports and a practical knowledge of civil litigation.
Phone hacking the Queen?
Official Secrets Act breaches?
(I was in court, as staff, for all of Harry's evidence against MGN, and the revelations were grim but not worldbreaking)
Possibly Rupert himself.
This way they continue to but the loyalty of the people within the empire, some of whom are likely in prominent positions or have prominent relationships.
2) Met Police were balls-deep with NGN, MGN et al (DAG has written extensively on this point)

But it's a good sign, at least
A pretty dull role, but looks good when I put it on job applications.
I still don't understand how the "costs man-trap" can be a thing. It seems very unjust that someone can escape the law by making it financially catastrophic for claimants. Is it a loophole which could be closed?
NGN have admitted they had acted illegally so you would hope that the Met Police will be able to use the evidence that Tom and Harry uncovered to proceed with a prosecution but will “The Establishment” scupper any action?
Whilst ofc in each of those they accepted no wrong doing - the fact they have now - fulsomely - implies something surely...?

And that is going to make it even harder for them to pressure him to back down on his allegations?
If so, he has a head of steam building nicely, fuelled by the media itself.
