If I’m playing the game mostly for the story, like RPGs, and I don’t really care about achievements/trophies/all that then I will totally turn down the difficulty if I encounter this sitch.
Yeah, it’s the balance of keeping things fun but still giving a challenge. And too often I get too frustrated and give up instead of making sure things stay fun.
I'll do this unless it's a Capcom game where they pester you to drop the difficulty every time you die. Then I just push through it out of pure spite for the dev team's audacity
Me, dying: "Man, maybe I should lower the difficulty a bit..."
Game: "Would you like to adjust the difficulty settings?"
Me: "How fucking dare you. Roll back the tape, we're doin it again!"
I know it's a metaphor but if someone could tell me how to put Black Myth Wukong on easy mode that would be awesome. I am level 98 and still stuck with one of the bosses that people in YouTube bear at level 50.
If I am playing a game for story or on the Switch I will tend to play it on easy. If it is on Playstation I have a harder time lowing difficulty cause I am a trophy whore. 😆
I fucking love that game, it's such a faithful recreation of the Alien world. But I don't dare play it on anything other than easy because fuck me the xeno is relentless
I know I’m showing my ignorance since I stopped playing games in the early 90s. I was an 80’s aracade nut back in the day. But….games have difficulty settings??
Yes, developers have decided to make them accessible for more people so that people can feel extra challenged if they want, or can choose to enjoy the story and world building instead.
I play every game in easy difficulty lmao. I don’t care what anyone says! I just want to lol and have fun! Unless I realize it’s toooooo easy then I may raise it.
That’s what I tend to do. I don’t have a lot of time to play, so I don’t want to waste it struggling and getting angry at it. Games are too expensive to play a couple hours and then give up.
Yes exactly! I don’t want to spend too much time on a level. I want to enjoy the game. I don’t have time to get “good” at a video game. That serves me no purpose. I just want to decompress and have fun.
I did that with a platformer once and it made my life easier. As I got more and more used to the game mechanics, I upped the difficulty and it worked much better.
Being completely unfamiliar with SMT, I opted for going for easy mode first playthrough. Especially since enemies are rocking Heat Riser as early as they are.

Usually around final bosses, sometimes mid-way.
Game: "Would you like to adjust the difficulty settings?"

People who take issue with how others play games are so fucking weird.
It was doing a good job spooking me I don’t need to have a heart attack every time a mannequin attacks me at low health 🫠
