This week just keeps getting more depressing.
First, the NHLBI council reviewing our well-scored grant on Feb4 got cancelled. Meanwhile, I still had to submit an R01 for Feb5 deadline. And now they're throwing a nuke into the NIH funding system, which'll kill research.
I'm emotionally drained.

This is catastrophic for US research universities as it ignores the real cost of doing research. The US academic-gov’t partnership forged post-WWII is the greatest creator of knowledge in history and is critical to US economic and technological competitiveness.
