This looks sick! I've never actually known how to do interaction systems like that, in the past I've done just a big trigger around the object, put some events it can trigger, then have code for the player to trigger the event if it's in that interaction trigger, I wonder if there's a better way.

this works exactly like that! it just also checks if there are multiple triggers nearby and only handles the one closest to the player!

coulda done raycasts instead but since this is 3rd person it might've been a bit awkward

I haven't expanded mine yet but does yours use some base interactable class and just use child classes to dictate what the events do? Or is it individual per interactable (mine is currently individual but there's only two "interactables" as of now)

exactly the first thing but in my case i did it the other way around, the interactable is a child scene so i can make any object interactable and that object's sclass/script dictates the interaction event

oh and an autoload manages the label and distance check etc
