I switched my undergrad major to math after having a long conversation with my philosophy professor where they pushed back on my mentality of picking a major based on career.
It was half an hour of "if you hate it, don't study it" and "sure but what do you *like* learning about?" before I got it.

When I advise students at Your Local Community College, I rarely ask what their career plans are. I'm much more interested in which things make them curious. We don't do enough to stoke curiosity.
