A rule to live by: Never trust anyone who would rather raise the retirement age than make the rich contribute more to Social Security.

So 15.3% of every $ I made I paid into Medicare and Social Security on my Business. My other careers paid in $$$$$$.$$
So how until I get a Dime? Is it an“Entitlement?”
Machines are faster & more efficient than when we hired in. Loosing overtime pay & working more hours keeps you exhausted & your body don’t have time off to recover. Raising retirement age will destroy more people
Just make people that make more than that pay more into Social Security and it's fixed. They should pay social security tax on all their earnings.
It's really extremely easy to do.
Get over it. It's already not "fair", and won't ever be.
Paying social security tax on every dollar isn't going to make ANYONE go bankrupt, but not paying will.
So either remove the cap or your parents move in with you.
#TheGreatDictator
That is what it is about to the 14 people surrounding Trump!
…make them pay it all back immediately via a huge #WealthTax…
…& finally remove the fkn cap on Social Security contributions!
We must force the ridiculously rich fkrs to pay their fair share to help their fellow Americans who need it, FFS!!!
The US tax system appears to be open to fraud by the government that is supposed to collect, protect and disperse the revenues.
OMG
Educate yourselves please!!!

Employees and employers are each required to pay a 6.2% tax on wages. In 2025, the limit is $176,100, which means you’ll pay no more than $10,918.20 in Social Security taxes ($176,100 x 6.2%) in 2025. #HandsoffourSocialSecurity

This would be a smoke screen for TAX CUTS for the wealthy.
It's all bullshit and people need to wake up to the fact that even if they paid 60% in taxes, the loopholes would make that number under 30% . Probably closer to a true 20%>
I knew their was a reason I never liked him
I expect that once they make it effectively non-functional they will defend it rabidly

By law, you cannot use debt spending to fund Social Security.
Using tax laws to move the wealth of We the People to the wealthy is another matter entirely.

A single person who made the average wage (about $66,100 in 2023 dollars) and retired in 2020 would have paid about $367,000 into Social Security and would then receive about $383,000 in lifetime benefits.
It's a defined benefit plan and the point is that it's guaranteed. You won't outlive your savings and a market collapse won't wipe them out

There are 813 billionaires in the US worth 14.2 trillion. You could generate $5.68 trillion right there.
No one benefits more from the economic/political system in place than the very wealthy.
Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, etc wouldn't benefit elsewhere the way they do in the US.
So, they should pay to support the system that they benefit so much from.
In terms of policy, does this group support things like M4A, zero-carbon by 2040, raising minimum wage, union/labor rights, and other soc-dem policies?
Raising the retirement was passed with bipartisan support in 1983 💅🏻

This is business Socialism, with gov't propping up businesses at the expense of tax payers.
Bridges to far even for his hard core MAGA, they will let him know on this one
Also, all the suicides...
How is this different? I want concrete plans, now.
They pay you to lend them your money, so they can charge other people to lend them money.
Point remains that the Trust Fund money has to go somewhere.
They want to steal the surplus to give another round of TAX CUTS to the wealthy.
Don't be fooled, unless you want to support your or parents or grandparents a 100%.
is $3600 per hour
for 24 hours is $86,400 which is more than most families make in a year
In seven days is $604,800
In 30 days $2,592,000 which is almost twice what most people earn in a lifetime
In one year $31,536,000
For almost 32 years is one billion.
Congress must repay at end of fiscal year + interest, again, per law.
