We are not going to meet any housing number targets whilst building affordable housing in the capital is so systemically impaired. And your periodic reminder that the housing crisis is an affordability crisis and so public/social housing surge essential.

I wonder if the insistence on building x amount of affordable houses limits the incentives for house builders to build as it makes it too costly for the builder.
My view is anything that puts housebuilding off is bad.
No housing is “affordable” anywhere where jobs are.
The local house building around here in Cambridge is quite clear that it’s the “affordable” housing that is so incredibly expensive as it’s so far below land & building costs that to make money you’d have to sell the rest above market price.
