My paternal grandmother taught in a one room school when first started teaching and my mom and her four siblings did. Their school is still standing in Hesketh,AB. At least it was not long ago.

My grandmother taught in a one room schoolhouse in Michigan in 1919. I have her diary and photos from that era, and am preparing a Snapfish book for my granddaughter, her namesake.
I’m trying to evoke the era she lived in - one teacher for all the grades and a single wood stove to warm the school.

My grandmother who was born in 1895 was doing the same thing. My grandmother started her autobiography in her 80’s. I love reading it.
