I can think of several people who wouldn't be here, contributing enormously to life in the UK, were it not for their being able to settle here and work. The idea that's somehow squalid is an appalling, disgusting lie.

My father had Alzheimer's. After a fall he had twice a day care from people most of whom would have been born outside the UK.

It was a privilege to have them in our house. One, who has sadly died since, brought a sense of joy and comfort every visit without fail.

I too think the term "open borders" is misleading to people who don't look at the breakdown of immigration categories. Most immigration is controlled via work & student visas. But most people will think it means waving asylum seekers thro'. Reciprocal FOM & Windrush invitees came in under controls.
