As respectfully as I can say this, we really need allies to center trans people when talking about the harm transphobia causes, instead of talking about how it'll affect cis people, too. Because if you don't then the objective becomes stopping unintended harm instead of stopping the harm altogether.

Consider, if transphobic legislation were refined to enough precision and enforced such that no cis person would ever be harmed by indirect effects, does it then become acceptable? Does transphobia need to be fixed, refined, and made precise? Or does it need to be altogether destroyed?

It is true that the language could easily be adjusted to only affect transgender care only (if it doesn't already)!

I certainly did not mean we should only fight for trans rights because of how it affects us! Perhaps I could have worded to better reflect that.

Take statements like "men suffer under patriarchy," or "white people are harmed by anti-blackness." While it's not wrong, it speaks over the oppressed and minimizes their suffering by awarding victimhood to the oppressor and framing their suffering under systems built to benefit them as equal.

Furthermore, it moves the goalposts away from ending those systems of oppression toward refining them instead by implying an acceptable level of harm which the accidental reflexive harm the oppressor class causes itself falls outside of.

NIH has found that around 60% of adolescent males have some level of breast growth.

But they don't talk about these facts. Because it doesn't fit their narrative.

These laws will have much wider effects than most people even realize.
