Im sorry to say but this is kinda the end game of what happens with little control over a major rule like GR1 causes, because it was so pushed and because for many many years people have gotten away with it with only few to moderate causalities. It caused more people to keep doing it

Which only now hurts the strikes look cause it just shows members as renegade members that cant be controlled since there is no real enforecement of the rule besides punishment and no real detection besides snitching, a oversimplification im sure but it makes the Union just not look appealing

Why do they think so many anime voice actors worked under pseudonyms? They're union actors for live-action work and in the 90s/00s, no anime companies were union shops so they had hide their involvement.

Yup. Working off-card was something that actors hid because they NEEDED to do it. The contracts we needed to use were egregiously outdated. We've now updated them and created SAG-AFTRA framework to capture that work, while others don't fight to flip and work off card using their real name.

The AFTRA in SAG-AFTRA is a VA union that was absorbed in 2012. Voice actors have been advocating for changes to represent VO properly since then. We have a voiceover department now. Personally, I started advocating for union work in 2018 and founded the dubbing steering committee in 2021ish.

I'm aware that it's difficult, and the union's pros/cons aren't simple. I respect the difficult decisions VAs make to make a living. The question is though, why the strike on a game that isn't a union contract? It's a bright red alarm for SAG, and only puts the noose on non-union VAs in the project.

If the actors want things to change, they should be free to push for that change however they deem necessary that falls under the law. Also, from everything I've gathered? All the existing non-union actors on the project wouldn't actually be hurt by it.

You wont find almost any projects that flipped union that fired its workers or actually forced them to go union. It's just not something they like to enforce if they don't absolutely have to.
