We weren't allowed to have cell phones where I was deployed, but if we had them and I texted my buds details about our upcoming flights I'd still be in prison.

It occurs to me that we're living through that scene from Airplane! where Ted tells Elaine that they'll be shipping out tomorrow, bombing the depots, and flying in low from the north under their radar. When Elaine asks when he'll be back Ted replies "It's classified."
I know a retired O-6 who sent one of his sailors to Leavenworth just last year for telling his friend to watch the news at a specific time. It was a Tomahawk strike.
These things can vary. I'd wager that in the unit I was with a serious OPSEC violation wouldn't result in a court martial for a junior enlisted idiot, but I'm not sure. I never heard of anyone testing the limits.
That said, I could see it happening for an officer.
Like I bet if my commander was in a big group chat with other commanders discussing ops, they could all go to prison. They have higher expectations of responsibility for higher ranks.
Apparently it goes down again once you get to the Secretary of Defense.
I've seen a junior enlisted get shipped off for a crypto-related incident, but that's a whole different ballgame. The only comparable incident I've seen was a couple E-3s talking about ship movement too loudly at the NEX. 45/45, reduction in rank, security clearance stripped.
Where I'm from, soldiers aren't allowed to post compromising videos, but if those videos are mementos of casual war crimes like humiliating prisoners or flying an Israeli flag over a mosque then it's more accepted.

The IDF is not a professional organization.
