Normal people: oh shit, this food-in-a-box has 700mg of sodium, maybe I should make something else.
POTS people: oh shit, this food-in-a-box only has 700mg of sodium, better add another gram while I'm cooking it.

Meanwhile, my wife is supposed to be on a low sodium diet.
You can test if you’re salt deficient by licking a little bit of just salt and seeing if it tastes good or bad.
i was having a low spoon day and was looking for a "heat and eat" meal... they all had over 50% daily amount of salt. I got high blood pressure and trying to cut intake.
NOT HELPING
(I have the other POTS: the one where nurses praise my bp then get The Look when they see my meds list)
::wishing you all the electrolytes::
I'll need to make up little plastic bags with nail clippers to snip it open for my post-doctor visit water, lol
finally getting enough salt has been fantastic for her. it’s so counterintuitive for people to wrap their heads around
but my mom asked her recently, and she said it's not POTS. 🤷
A recent-ish medical diagnosis involved a daisy-chain of cholesterol into blood pressure into blood sugar leading to... hey guess whose body forgot what homeostasis is?
SALT LICK YUM!
Endo and Nutritionist: Wait, THAT helped things!?
Used to only pour salt in the bowl ..now it's like a good portion of the non-iodized salt pot lol.
My mom the first time she saw was flabbergasted xD.
it was amazing. even my partner was pleasantly surprised
(I know on days when I've been sweating too much, salt tastes sweet until I rebalance, but that's nothing like what she's dealing with)
them: "when you said '700mg' I was like...that's gonna need more salt" 🤣
I’m curious. Given how much more salt you need, do you find it possible to cook with enough salt that you don’t need to take salt supplements? Just trying to process what that much salt would do flavor wise.
Helped me get through a COVID "snot tsunami" phase.
