As a borderline hikikomori, I have been going to my local park district gym for the last month, got my library card, and at least took a picture of the flyer for volunteering at my local food bank. I want to make riding my bicycle to the public library great again!

My Episcopal church had *eight* new folks come yesterday. A normal Sunday has about 70 ppl in attendance. The signs are definitely there.

It’s not going to happen fast enough to save alot of people but I do think there’s hope and it’s the kind of hope that’s needed. It’s the hope on a fundamental basic level of wanting to be a good human being that we are all struggling with the absence of.

I came down with the flu just before the inauguration and I've been dealing with post-viral fatigue ever since and I feel SO guilty I can't do more to help right now. I cannot get better fast enough, but in the meantime I am very grateful for the people that can and are helping.

whatever your belief system is, you see a hollowness in the world. And that hollowness is everything, it’s hatred towards different groups, it’s Jeff Bezos taking testosterone, it’s influencers selling snake oil. It’s cruel meaninglessness and people feel it and we need to push to something better

I firmly believe the loss of "normal" church going for average people has left us with a 3rd space vacuum that we tried to fill with the internet and oh my god did it fail after it worked for a brief second for a few people.

We need community centers on steroids to gather people offline.

Unitarian Universalist churches are a good replacement honestly. Many of them need younger folk because of aging congregations, and there is no religion they're pushing, just being good to each other. Its like philosophy church

I've had such a place recommended to me and I'm excited to go check them out. I also joined a Buddhist meditation center and that's been a great place for me to be in community but also very focused on myself.

I spent the period from the election through the first week of the inauguration feeling avoidant and depressed. I'm all fired up now, though. I think the scope and speed of the lawbreaking has pulled a lot of people out of their funk.

I have a 40” loom that I just realized I can make baby/kid blankets with, so I ordered a bulk batch of merino wool and I’m going to see how many I can make with it to donate to the maternity ward/ anywhere else I can. I’ve also been slowly prepping my yard soil and I’ve started food gardening

I'm genuinely thinking about attending church JUST for the social aspects. Staunchly agnostic but I am fiending for social interaction that I just can't find right now (I live in the Bible belt please send help).

There is no amount of preaching that can change my spiritual views.
