My favorite project was a government run/funded project from 2005, but they must have stopped paying for the webaddress because now the website sells cryptocurrency. Lots of government papers link to the website.

None of these projects are actually devised to assist research. They exist to justify funding that perpetuates the rhetoric of machine learning’s promise. Once the project period has lapsed & new funding applied for, there is no stewardship bc no one was invested in the research in the first place.

It’s start-up logic. The project/company doesn’t emerge organically to serve a need. It emerges to justify the investment of capital, and project aims shift perpetually in order to pitch the next round of funding.

Yeah, the "check your work" part, not so much. After all, that would require two tiers of intelligence:
1) Wing it putting together what looks like answers.
2) Verify every answer
