I knew the place was famous and had to be expensive, but nearly $2000 for a party of 4 is bonkers. Then again, I've never personally ordered a dinner that cost more than about 50 bucks, so I may just be a hayseed unschooled in the ways of fine dining.

It is a lot of money, but fine dining is far from a necessity.
Each person makes their own priorities, and it’s obvious fine dining isn’t one of yours.
And that’s fine!
What isn’t is you thinking other people’s preferences are “bonkers”.
but it is also a bit on the high side for fine dining (though maybe not atypically so for 3 michelin stars?)
Can't think of anyone else who qualifies for those prices, though, and that includes Keller.
I considered it a one-time investment for my mother and well worth every penny.
Suggesting that he is benefactor, and they should be thanking him, rather than a vendor thanking them for including him in a unique event is a piss worthy attitude.
