Honestly the new form of The Observer will need a competitor. It’s good for integrity, pushing one another for better journalism and breaking stories. But we do need some proper investigative journalism. Desperately.

Assurances were given that due diligence was conducted on The Observer... erm... 'sale'. Carole Cadwalladr acted with courage and integrity by independently publishing her own investigation. The burden of proof is now on The Scott Trust Ltd, not Carole.
