Absolutely. The price depends on the most flexible commodity (easiest to switch on and off) but as gas makes up less and less of the mix then whatever barmy formula governed it in the first place is less and less justified

Which is retrograde and balmy. Personally I think Greg Jackson is correct in calling for Zonal pricing. Which would split GB into 7 wholesale electricity markets.

When consumers see the cost saving of renewable electricity they’ll be clamouring for investment in it. It’s no wonder some consumers have a negative view when they are being asked to fund it but see no benefit from it

Standing charges need to be looked at as well..... just submitted a gas reading, due to the OFGEM price cap rise to make sure they don't overcharge me for gas I have not used.

In 19 days I used 68p worth of gas and paid nearly £6 in standing charges.

I reckon about 98% of my gas bill is standing charges. In the last month I have used 24p worth of gas and been charged £9 in standing charges.

The standing charge is supposed to be for maintaining infrastructure, be interesting to see how much of it goes on dividend payments.

You’re missing the point. Wind and solar rely on natural gas for efficacy. As long as you use wind and solar you will use natural gas. Unless you build hydro or nuclear.
