This doesn't seem to be the question for the original complainer, who pretty explicitly wants to see this broad swath of cultural news/conversation/ephemera stay with Twitter. I think that's misguided.
Okay, so it’s misguided. A lot of us had jocks as our first bullies; it’s hard to outrun that trauma, even if you know it’s not rational to project onto different people.
How do you convince a sports guy to stand up to his teammates who are excited about an emboldened “might makes right” ethos?
I think you probably see this already, but increasing everyone's twitter hours is not going to produce more heroic teammates or less abhorrent sex pests. You can hate sports *a lot* and still prefer a world in which Twitter isn't the universal sports press board and town hall. Mute buttons etc
