I have always done it to park facing out, but only to park not to simply drive through.

I still can't fathom it. I always reverse in. I only post this, because, once again, someone has driven through whilst I'm reversing in and shrugged their shoulders as if I'm in the wrong 🤷

I can, and do, reverse in too. If driving through, though, I would give way to anyone about to use the space, reversing in.
