What is the worst Trump could do with a shutdown? He gets to decide what is essential. The courts (& thus our fairly successful outcomes in many cases) would be impacted. I am one who already called both my D senators in favor of a shutdown but now I'm rethinking this. Unfettered Trump w/ no end?

Schumer is not in the Senate to serve. There was a piece in the Atlantic or Harpers a while back that said the highlight of Chuck’s day was lunch in the Senate Dining Room, where he liked to hold court. It added he never, ever removes those reading glasses, and it drives everyone nuts, me included.
