I've realised I find it hard to talk about children's books I've loved on here because every thought I have is a spoiler. Spoiler free chat is HARD. #KidLitUK Like, I can say a few words about it but anything deeper? THERE BE SPOILERS.

I guess this sort of query shows how little I know about the kid lit community, because I didn’t realize the issue around spoilers applies as well. I assume it’d matter more for the child reading the book, but I think i would like to know where the story’s going before recommending it to one.
Even as someone to whom spoilers are like the world’s most annoying form of kryptonite, I have to admit that there are entire series that I only got into because I had them spoiled by friends.
A lot of the cooler moments that got people into things like Star Wars are also huge spoilers.
Exactly.
I’ve dropped entire series of books and TV because people spoiled the ending for me.
The Red Dwarf novels, the Sunrunner books by Melanie Rawn, God alone knows how many Netflix shows (though not as many as I dropped because they cancelled successful series right in the middle)…
On that note I still see a lot of people saying things like “And then he seems to die”, as if everyone wouldn’t immediately figure out that he doesn’t actually die and is therefore probably deceiving the heroes as well.
If we’re supposed to think someone is dead it’s better to just say they died.
I love talking to book groups who have read the book because I can talk about anything! But also - a series of author events called ‘Spoiler Alert’ where people who have read the book can ask anything they want.

It depends
Like unless it’s a huge twist I don’t usually mind ep1 spoilers, but I wouldn’t want to know too early when someone in GoT was going to die.
