Then they recognized the sovereignty of an AWFUL LOT of countries given how many overseas territories are in it (I for one recognize the right of penguins to govern themselves)

Rachel Maddow did a long description of Tokelau on her Wednesday show.😂 Saint Pierre and Miquelon are part of France even though they are islands just off Newfoundland. There's a Canadian TV show set there.
Europe is also not a country. The noobs from the Trump administration don't know what they are talking about. They must have been drunk and high when starting on that list.
Since the Svalbard Treaty only applies to Svalbard and Bear Island, while Jan Mayen is a part of Norway itself, this does probably open a lot of weird loopholes.
It is de facto governing itself within the United Kingdom. Not everything that applies to the UK applies to Gibraltar. Separating them for this purpose is not uncanny.
Reunion is France and is governed by French law. There’s no need to separate them.
Look there’s a US military base on there. Gibraltar is different from the UK rate. Uninhabited islands are tariffed. The Chinese are gonna see it’s a batsh*t list.

Interesting. And Taiwan is the best semiconductor manufacturers in the world. That's BEST - not cheapest. The US consumer will feel the crunch pretty quickly.
Many questions. Will it be big enough to satisfy all US demand? If so, how long is it going to take to get it in operation? There must be a non zero chance that when Trump is gone, tariffs get reduced, or stopped, the economics of a US factory make less sense, and they end up with a white elephant.
Pretty sure it will be specialized for specific chips, not a general all-puropose factory, so it will never be able to cover US demand. Also - since there is now tarrifs on the EU - where will the factory get its machines if not from ASML? They are pretty much a monopoly...

Maybe the Drumpf administration needs some history lessons. 😉

still, i don't think there's any point in trying to find sanity in the list. it's a LOOK AT THE BIG LIST!!! list.
but i'd like to put tariffs on the IoW until it rejoins Hants as a supplicant territory. 1890 was a big mistake!
the answer is largely "yes".

"We impose tariffs on all imports to force companies into onshoring on US territory. Unless we are presented with good reason for exemptions."
