Looking back in hindsight, I bet she sun bathing after a long winter, knowing nothing could reach her up there on that ledge
Love the head on pics. I never spent tons of time getting to know cameras (use photos mainly for painting, honestly) but one is a little Canon (20 years old) with so much programming on it, it is impossible to learn every multi function detail
Easier that than carrying around a physical manual
This is why I spend more and more time just enjoying what’s right around me—owls heard before dawn, ID-ing new wildflowers (more appear every climate-wacky year),catching beaver family at dawn, a mile from here. “They” are out there…thank God!
Wood ducks, teals, mergansers, Buffleheads, etc
One could logically draw the assumption that the smaller ducks evolved that way to accommodate this🤔 (guessing)

The photo is dated March 22nd, 11:07am, and it's right around that time when Ontario's sun starts to become powerful again.... when you're unzipping your coat with confusion and discomfort
